WOW, July flew by!!! Rachelle has completed her five weeks of working at Camp Kahquah! Jordan enjoyed his 2 weeks of CREW working hard at camp doing kitchen duties, cleaning bathrooms, helping with programming, etc. ...they also got some free time. Melissa also participated in a week of kids camp called BLAZE. The theme for BLAZE this year was "Reality Check." The above photos are Jordan at CREW (2 pics) and the 3rd one is Rachelle's cabin of girls during BLAZE ... Melissa got to be in her cabin so she's in the photo too, next to Rachelle. Rachelle is in the front row wearing black & Melissa is wearing purple Crocs. They had a great time together! =)


Camp Kahquah is affiliated with the Brethren In Christ denomination, which is the church that we attend here. Last summer our family enjoyed a week of family camp as Harv was the "Camp Pastor" for that week. We had a wonderful time ~ he did an awesome job! =).

What I love about camp is how it gives kids (and adults) an opportunity to experience God in a fresh & new way and grow closer to the Lord in the quiet atmosphere of His beautiful creation, away from all the busyness of life. It's so great for kids to experience being away from home and for parents to have that opportunity of "letting go." And even for older kids Rachelle's age who go and work there for several weeks it's like a "stepping stone" for the future ... for leadership training, developing independence and preparing to leave home after high school. We appreciate the camp leadership & staff so much for all that they do to bless the lives of so many people, especially kids. (And in Rachelle's case with her food allergies, the cooks have especially been a tremendous blessing!)
