The past few weeks have been crazy for me. Our church celebrated their 70th Anniversary yesterday (actual date was April 9th) ... anyway, I had to put together a 15 minute power point slideshow and go through hundreds and hundreds of pictures, so that took over my life especially in the past couple of weeks. Amazingly, even after watching it over and over again, tweaking and analyzing it to death, believe it or not there were mistakes found afterward. I spent so many hours on it ... at first it was fun and I really enjoy doing that sort of thing, but toward the end I was growing very weary to say the least. At the beginning it went slowly for me as I was also still learning new things with the power point program but once I got the hang of it, it was just time consuming in other ways. One does not realize how much work it is to put something like that together, especially going through all those photos (at first thinking you wished you had more selection but soon realizing you have too much), then having to decide what pictures to use, editing photos, how to organize them, figuring them out chronologically, doing it systematically, covering themes, creating titles, making sure info and dates are accurate, choosing music, timing the slides, etc, etc, etc .... and going back to 1939! This past week was brutal as I found myself working on it from 9 AM to 2 AM some days ...then when we went to test it at the church on Saturday, we discovered the church power point program was an older version than ours and there were problems with that, plus little things were messed up like text boxes, etc. Soooo...I spent another 7 hours at the church fixing things. I am kind of exhausted to put it mildly and now I have to try get my life back to normal. I got way too wound up over this and no one even has any idea except for my family (and maybe a couple other people). I was glad when the church service was over yesterday. It was very special to hear Melissa and two of her church friends sing as well yesterday at the 70th anniversary celebration. They did a beautiful job singing "Song of Love," with me accompanying them on the piano.
Anyway, yesterday was also special to us for another reason .... it was Harvey's Birthday! And I didn't even make a post for him 'cause I was too wiped out. We didn't do much ... first we napped (at least I did), then he opened a couple gifts, we sang "Happy Birthday" & I had baked a cake, we went for a little bike ride (Harv and I finally tested out our new bikes from Bob and Monika -- they're GREAT!!!) ... then we went to Harvey's for supper (courtesy of a wonderful friend). We finished the day watching a movie called "Bedtime Stories." And that was our day. Finally, I could relax too.The next few weeks will be filled with more busyness, especially as school winds down for summer. June is an insane month for us as a family just with three Birthdays and our Wedding Anniversary ... this year we also have Rachelle's grade 12 graduation and Jordan's grade 8 graduation. The biggest thing for us right now is Rachelle graduating and preparing for College. A few days after grad she will head to Camp Kahquah again to work for the month of July, then we pick her up on our way out west for 3 weeks, then she has about a week at home to get ready to leave for College. The stress of this for me is huge. Letting go is not really the issue, it's helping her figure out all the details and making sure she has everything in place, waiting to find out stuff, etc. ...And hoping she gets a lot of financial help through scholarships, etc. It's all very overwhelming to think about. This week Harv is going to Calgary again for a few days. Tomorrow Jordan has another orthodontist appointment and he will probably need braces as he has an adult tooth that won't move down. May 15th Rachelle and Sonja are both going for their driver's license (Rachelle's second attempt).
Well, that's a brief update for now ...Posted by Brenda

Life can get overwhelming at different times in our lives. The power point stuff is not something I would attempt (although I somehow managed to scan old pictures and put together a slide show for my dad's funeral - not quite sure how I managed that), so good for you for doing it.
Graduation is another overwhelming time, even without the added birthdays. I'll be thinking of you and praying that you will be able to relax and enjoy the special occasion.
Your life does sound insane!
Wish Harvey a Happy Belated Birthday from us. I remembered last week that his birthday was coming up on Sunday, and then yesterday I forgot. My apologies.
Oh Brenda..I certainly can relate to this post. I've done the 2AM thing all too many times. Our kids have also done their share of PP presentations/slide shows and know how much time it takes, which isn't always appreciated by others. It is a good feeling to be done though, huh! The other thing I try to keep in mind at times like these is that hopefully others will feel blessed, even if we're stressed! (Hey that rhymed :)
We too will be praying that God will help you to keep perspective and that all will go smoothly, one step at a time.
Wish we could get all these grads together for one big celebration!
Is Rachelle going to be able to come along to MB this summer?
Thanks for the comments ...
This week I'm recovering. My body is a bit out of whack from those crazy hours ... add to that the monthly "joys" that are now upon thee. A night-shift job would kill me for sure. I think everyone mostly appreciated the slide-show but still not truly aware of the time spent even just wracking my brain over some of the details. Never mind, it's my own fault for going overboard. Yes, Rachelle is coming out to MB with us. All of us will be there :) We just got a letter from the college - Rachelle is #305 on the waitlist for living in residence (they do a lottery due to limited space) ...so it's highly unlikely she will get in. Looks like we'll have to find her a place to live there. Thanks for your encouraging words, thoughts, prayers, Birthday wishes, etc. :)
Blessings,
Brenda
